Amazon is doubling down on its biggest sales event of the year — literally. For the first time ever, Prime Day will run for four full days, stretching from July 8 to July 11, the company announced in a recent release. That’s twice as long as in previous years, giving shoppers extended access to site-wide discounts.
Prime Day began on July 15, 2015, as a one-day event to mark Amazon’s 20th anniversary. In the decade since, it has grown into a global shopping phenomenon, spanning more days, more countries, and more product categories — from home essentials to fashion and high-tech gadgets like AirPods Pro.
Last year’s 48-hour Prime Day was Amazon’s biggest to date, with more than 200 million items sold by independent sellers, according to the company.
Amazon describes Prime Day as “an event that would rival Black Friday,” designed to give Prime members exclusive access to steep discounts without needing to leave home.
“Typically held in the summer, Prime Day features deals on a variety of products across popular product categories,” Amazon said in a statement.
The 2025 Prime Day sale kicks off at 12:01 a.m. PDT on July 8 and runs through 11:59 p.m. PDT on July 11, giving shoppers four full days to snag discounts.
Expect deals across a wide range of categories — electronics, clothing, school supplies, groceries, beauty products, and more. Shoppers can browse the latest deals on Amazon’s dedicated Prime Day website.
In the lead-up to the event, Amazon is also offering early access discounts for Prime members, including Grubhub+ offers, grocery delivery deals, small business promotions, and markdowns on Amazon-branded products and devices.
This year’s July Prime Day will include shoppers from 20 countries, such as the U.S., U.K., Canada, Japan, Germany, Australia, and France. Amazon noted that Brazil, Egypt, India, Mexico, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE will host their own Prime Day events later this summer.
Prime Day is exclusive to Amazon Prime members. Those without a membership will need to sign up to participate. A subscription currently costs $14.99 per month or $139 per year.
