Brandon Blackstock — music manager, former stepson of country legend Reba McEntire, and ex-husband of singer Kelly Clarkson — has died at 48 following a three-year battle with cancer.

“It is with great sadness that we share the news that Brandon Blackstock has passed away,” a family representative said in a statement to Fox News Digital. “Brandon bravely battled cancer for more than three years. He passed away peacefully, surrounded by family. We thank you for your thoughts and prayers and ask everyone to respect the family’s privacy during this very difficult time.”

News of his death comes just a day after Clarkson announced she was postponing the remainder of her August shows in her Las Vegas residency due to a family emergency. In an Instagram post, she explained, “While I normally keep my personal life private, this past year my children’s father has been ill and at this moment, I need to be fully present for them.” She thanked fans for their “grace, kindness and understanding.”

Clarkson had previously postponed the residency’s July opening just hours before it was set to begin. The show — Kelly Clarkson: Studio Sessions – The Las Vegas Residency — was announced in February with 18 performances planned at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace through November 15.

Blackstock was the son of television producer Narvel Blackstock, who was married to McEntire from 1989 to 2015. He and Clarkson wed in 2013 after years of knowing each other through the music industry. Narvel’s management company began representing Clarkson in 2007, and Brandon served as her manager from 2017 until their separation in 2020.

The couple divorced in 2022 after a highly publicized split, with Clarkson receiving primary custody of their two children, River and Remington. Despite the personal challenges, Clarkson continued to balance her music career and her talk show, The Kelly Clarkson Show, which celebrated its 1,000th episode in March.
