General Motors unveiled the Cadillac Elevated Velocity on Thursday, a concept car aimed at expanding the brand’s all-electric luxury crossover segment.
The electric concept features a “lifted yet elegant” design and rides on 24-inch wheels. Cadillac highlighted multiple driving and user-experience modes to enhance performance and interior engagement. “The word ‘elevate’ serves a dual meaning – it references the lifted chassis for off-road capabilities while also reflecting an elevated luxury experience,” said Alexandra Dymowska, senior brand designer at Cadillac.
Although the showcar is fully operational, it is not equipped with full performance capabilities. It builds on Cadillac’s EV portfolio, including the Lyriq and Optiq, and continues the design principles of the 2024 Opulent Velocity concept, according to Bryan Nesbitt, GM global design VP. Concept vehicles allow automakers to explore future brand direction and gauge consumer interest rather than being sold to the public.
GM initially planned to transition exclusively to EVs by 2035, but slower-than-expected consumer demand has prompted flexibility in its timeline. Cadillac aims for an all-electric lineup by 2030 while maintaining gas-powered models. The luxury brand has seen strong performance recently, with VP John Roth noting its best first half in nearly two decades. Cadillac led luxury EV sales in Q2 2025 and ranked second year-to-date, while placing fifth in overall EV sales.
Multiple Modes and Elevated Interior Experiences
The Elevated Velocity concept offers interactive modes. “Welcome mode” activates when passengers enter, with gull-wing doors lifting and interior lighting illuminating. “Elevate mode” shifts the vehicle to autonomous driving, retracting pedals and steering, adjusting ambient lighting, and integrating features like breathwork guidance, cabin filtration, fragrance, red light therapy, and climate control to create a “recovery space.”
“Velocity mode” emphasizes performance, dimming floor lighting and switching to cool white interior lights to enhance focus and excitement. The car also offers driving modes for both on-road and off-road performance, improving visibility in dusty or sandy conditions.
Cadillac’s design highlights include an exterior color inspired by glacier ice paired with a red interior. The cabin combines red leather on seat cushions and flooring with red fabric on seat uppers, armrests, and the instrument panel, creating a bold yet luxurious aesthetic for the concept.
