Amazon founder Jeff Bezos sold nearly three million shares valued at $665.8 million over two days in July, according to a regulatory filing released Tuesday. The transaction is part of a broader stock sale plan announced earlier this year, in which Bezos intends to unload up to 25 million Amazon shares by May 2026.

Bezos executed the July sale on July 7, offloading 2,974,445 shares at an average price of $223.86, totaling $665.9 million. Just a week earlier, on June 30, he sold 3,324,926 shares at an average of $221.56, bringing in roughly $736.7 million. Both transactions were carried out under his Rule 10b5-1 trading plan, which was set in place earlier this year and remains active through May 2026.

Bezos, who stepped down as Amazon CEO in 2021, had previously sold $736.7 million in stock during the final days of June. Despite these sales, he still owns more than 900 million shares of Amazon, which are currently valued at nearly $200 billion.

The latest sale comes on the heels of Bezos’ high-profile wedding to Lauren Sanchez, held in Venice with a reported $50 million price tag. The event featured a star-studded guest list including Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner, Bill Gates, Oprah Winfrey, members of the Kardashian family, and Leonardo DiCaprio.

Bezos remains Amazon’s largest shareholder and continues to serve as the company’s chairman.

Amazon Prime Day is currently happening this week and is one of the most lucrative and influential retail events in the world. Last year, it generated a whopping $14.2 billion in sales, according to Capital One.

Target employees are lashing out on social media site Reddit against Jeff Bezos and Amazon. They claim that Target moved its Circle Week promotion up to compete with Amazon. The original poster (OP) blamed Bezos. “It’s so busy today it might as well be tax-free weekend,” the OP wrote. “We obviously don’t have enough staff because Jeff Bezos made us move Circle Week after the schedule was made. We did have enough staff for next week, but that doesn’t help us this week.”

AMZN stock is flat on the year.
