After months of speculation, Meta has officially unveiled its latest smart glasses in collaboration with Oakley. These new wearables boast twice the battery life of the Meta Ray-Bans and are capable of capturing 3K video. Built on Oakley’s HSTN (pronounced “how-stuhn”) frame design, the glasses are being positioned as Meta’s “first product for athletes and fans alike.”

A special limited-edition Oakley Meta HSTN version with gold-colored accents will be priced at $499 and is set to be available for preorder starting July 11. According to Meta, the rest of the lineup will start at $399 and launch later this summer.

Equipped with a front-facing camera, open-ear speakers, and microphones, the glasses allow users to enjoy music, take photos, and handle phone calls directly through the device.

The smart eyewear also integrates Meta AI, enabling hands-free assistance. Users can give commands like “Hey Meta, how strong is the wind today?” or “Hey Meta, take a video.” In addition to general queries, Meta AI can provide real-time information about the user’s surroundings and translate languages.

Battery performance is another highlight—Meta says the Oakley Meta HSTN glasses offer up to eight hours of typical use and up to 19 hours in standby mode. A fast charge can bring the battery up to 50% in just 20 minutes, and a portable charging case provides up to 48 additional hours on the go.

The glasses are available in six different frame and lens combinations: warm grey with ruby lenses, black with polar black lenses, brown smoke with polar deep water lenses, black with amethyst lenses, clear with grey lenses, and black with clear lenses. Prescription compatibility is available for an added fee. Select models also include Oakley’s Prizm Lens technology, which “makes it easier to see in different lighting and weather conditions, helping you see more and perform at your peak,” according to Meta.

The Oakley Meta HSTN will be sold in the U.S., Canada, U.K., Ireland, France, Italy, Spain, Austria, Belgium, Australia, Germany, Sweden, Norway, Finland, and Denmark, with Meta planning to expand availability to Mexico, India, and the United Arab Emirates later in the year.

Meta says this new launch represents the next step in its multi-year partnership with EssilorLuxottica, the parent company of Oakley, Ray-Bans, and several other eyewear brands. According to EssilorLuxottica’s FY2024 financial report, Meta Ray-Ban smart glasses have surpassed two million units sold.
